Indaba Musicâ#8364;#8482;s Community Invited To Remix Peter Gabrielâ#8364;#8482;s Classic `Games Without Frontiers`

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) May 24, 2010

Indaba Music, the star online destination for music creation, is thrilled to declare that Peter Gabriel has invited fans and fellow musicians to â#8364;#339;

cratch his backâ#8364; by remixing his classic track, â#8364;#339;Games Without Frontiers.#226;#8364;The "Games Without Frontiers" Remix Contest will launch at http://www.indabamusic.com/featured_programs/show/remix-peter-gabriel on May 20th at 3 pm EDT, with a six-week submission period followed by a two-week public voting period.One lucky Grand Prize winner will be flown to London to drop a day mastering their remix at Gabrielâ#8364;#8482;s Real World Studios.The winning adaptation of â#8364;#339;Games Without Frontiersâ#8364; will so be released as an official digital single on iTunes.

With this competition, Gabriel is continuing his involvement in crowd-sourcing talented collaborators through technology, while Indaba community members get the chance to team up with one of musicâ#8364;#8482;s biggest names. In the intent of Gabrielâ#8364;#8482;s recent Scratch My Second album of cover songs, the "Games Without Frontiers" Remix Contest fits right in line with the singerâ#8364;#8482;s stake in a non-traditional covers record. Scratch My Back is the 1st office of a serial of song exchanges in which Gabriel and other leading artists reinterpret each otherâ#8364;#8482;s songs, and finds Gabriel performing personalized versions of tunes by David Bowie, Radiohead, Lou Reed, Neil Young, Arcade Fire, and more.Many of these artists, in turn, are recording reciprocal covers of Gabriel songs, which will be on the upcoming sequel, Iâ#8364;#8482;ll Scratch Yours.

â#8364;#339;I have ever been fascinated with the workmanship and the work of putting together a serious song,#226;#8364; said Gabriel.#226;#8364;#339;I ever wanted to do an album of other peopleâ#8364;#8482;s songs; but rather than do a traditional cover record, I though it would be lots more interesting to give a song exchange project, in which I would ask some of my favorite writers if they would swap tunes.#226;#8364;

â#8364;#339;Peter is forever up for hearing other peoplesâ#8364;#8482; ways of doing music,#226;#8364; explains Gabrielâ#8364;#8482;s longtime partner and producer, Richard Chappell. â#8364;#339;Itâ#8364;#8482;s what keeps him going. Heâ#8364;#8482;s never precious about keeping it going in one way. He enjoys chaos, and gets off on how one personâ#8364;#8482;s idea can trigger anotherâ#8364;#8482;s â#8364;#8220; a form of musical pass-the-parcel.#226;#8364;

Gabriel is opening up this collaboration to the next stage with the "Games Without Frontiers" Remix Contest, allowing remixers to reassemble and re-interpret his classic song in whatever forms their imaginations allow.Each monthâ#8364;#8221;on the entire moonâ#8364;#8221;a doubled A-sided single is being released that pairs one of the songs from Scratch My Back with a reciprocal Peter Gabriel track recorded by that respective songwriter. The best remix of "Games Without Frontiers," as judged by Gabriel, Chappell and Indaba Musicâ#8364;#8482;s Mantis Evar, will therefore take the honour of being commercially released as a AA iTunes single, paired with Gabrielâ#8364;#8482;s original, sometime in the 4th quarter of 2010.The winning remixer will likewise be given a deal of the trackâ#8364;#8482;s royalties, a signed collector`s edition of the Grave My Back box set, and a barren year-long Platinum membership to Indaba Music.

In addition, two runners-up will each receive signed Peter Gabriel lithographs and release year-long Platinum Memberships to Indaba Music, while 10 honorable mentions will receive year-long Pro memberships to Indaba and an enhanced double CD of Scratch My Back.

Contestants for the "Games Without Frontiers" Remix Contest will be capable to use their own software or to make vantage of Indabaâ#8364;#8482;s recently unveiled MANTIS, its new web-based Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). Mantis enables anyone, from anyplace in the world, to record, edit and mix high-quality audio â#8364;#8221; for free.Based on feedback from hundreds of thousands of users, MANTIS sports an elegant redesign and marked increases in speed, stability and usability, and has already been embraced by everyone from DIY bedroom producers to respected pros including reggae/hip-hop singer Matisyahu and Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo.
