Peter Gabriel tour showcases 'New Line' with four orchestra dates .

Awaiting the exit of his first studio album since 2002, English musician Peter Gabriel has unveiled four dates for the abbreviated New Blood Tour of North America.

The performances will be a loss for the musician best known for his intricate progressive and experimental rock, as he's promised nights of "no drums" and "no guitars" on his official Web site.

Instead, the former Genesis vocalist will be accompanied only by a 54-piece orchestra.

After five engagements in Paris, Berlin and London this March, the rock spectacle will see only three more markets stateside. The Union American concerts are booked for April 28 at Bell Centre in Montreal, QC; May 2-3 at Radio City Music Hall in New York, NY; and May 7 at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA.

Tickets for Gabriel's two Radio City performances go on sale to the universal public on February 16. A one-week presale precedes the public sale, running from February 7 at 10 a.m. (EDT) through February 15 at 10 p.m. (EDT). Ticketing information for Gabriel's Montreal and Los Angeles events has not yet been released.

The coming spring concerts will concentrate on stuff from the eighth studio album of his solo career, "Scratch My Back." Due on February 15, the effort features Gabriel's orchestrated covers of a dozen songs by his contemporaries, such as Paul Simon and Lou Reed, as good as up-and-coming artists like Arcade Fire and Bon Iver.

According to an early January interview with Billboard, the album is division of a musical exchange with the artists being covered. "Scratch My Back" will be followed by a second set called "I'll Scratch Yours," as each act returns the favour with their interpretations of his songs.
